USS Renshaw DD/DDE-499

Reunion 2009

The reunion came off as planned. The G20 Summit and the associated protest groups were in town, but we were not affected, other than a couple changes to our tour bus sites on Wednesday. It was a great reunion and Pittsburgh was a good place to hold it.  We'll have some additional comments, pictures, and info on the gathering shortly. If you missed it, you missed (another) good one.           Glenn

Pittsburgh, PA, September 21-23, 2009

View of Downtown Pittsburgh

Our Hotel was:   The Radisson Hotel Pittsburgh Green Tree

101 Radisson Drive

The hotel accommodations were excellent and our hospitality room was inviting and well-stocked, as always. The dinner Tuesday night and the banquet Wednesday night  were a treat for all of us. More details to follow, including info on our guest speaker at the banquet.

Here are the tours we had in the Pittsburgh area:

Tuesday,
Thanks to Jerry Vandenberg's suggestion, we went to Falling Water, a work by Frank Lloyd Wright. Leaving at 8:30 and back around 3:00. There was a nice place to get lunch.

Wednesday,
We went to the Univerisity of Pittsburgh. It has the world renowned Nationality Rooms, which were donated by different countries. Then, we were off to Station Square for shopping and lunch. After lunch we went to the Duquesne Incline for the best views in Pittsburgh.
