Renshaw Plaque for National Museum of the Pacific War

Baltimore turned out to be a great place for a Renshaw reunion. The hotel was good and the tours were excellent.

Baltimore is one of the most interesting cities in America, with many neighborhoods reflecting the groups which settled there long ago.   Baltimore is a seaport, with a newly-renovated waterfront full of sightseeing attractions, shopping, and restaurants.   It's historic, home of the star-spangled banner, poet Edgar Allen Poe, and home-run champion Babe Ruth. The US Naval Academy is nearby.

Our hotel was the Radisson Cross Keys, 5100 Falls Road, Baltimore.  The hotel is located in the Village at Cross Keys, a lovely community on a 72-acre wooded site, with jogging and walking trails and more than 20 boutiques and specialty shops.  The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to the Baltimore Inner Harbor located about 6 miles away and other local attractions.

The Renshaw Hospitality Suite was open each day of  the reunion for visiting and sharing memories.  There were many books and photos on display.  As always. there were plenty of sodas, beer, and various snacks.

Friday - We viewed historic Annapolis–state capitol of Maryland--and a beautiful colonial city on the water.  Our main destination was the US Naval Academy, a legendary institution founded in 1846 to train officers for the US Navy.  We toured the beautiful grounds and buildings and learned how the Academy has contributed to the Navy's history and future.  Then we strolled around Annapolis and had lunch on our own at one of the many restaurants around the Annapolis docks.

Saturday - The city tour introduced us to many Baltimore attractions and landmarks.  We stopped at the Inner Harbor where there was much to see and time for shopping and lunch (on our own).  We ended the day at Ft. McHenry, where the defense of the Fort against attack in the war of 1812 inspired Francis Scot Key to write the national anthem.

We had our casual buffet on Friday evening at the hotel. It was followed by some musical entertainment in the hospitality suite. Our formal banquet was held at the hotel on Saturday. All shipmates and guests enjoyed a great time together.

We'll be moving on to Buffalo, NY, next year. Please watch the website for additional details, as they become available.
