Lonis --------- From: Edward Gann [email protected] To: Glenn Barbee Date: Dec.9,2005 Time: 0748 Good Morning, I served aboard the Uss Renshaw DDE-499 from October 1959 to June 1961.I was in the USNR and was in the quartermaster gang. There was only three of us....the chief , the third class qm, and me a seaman. On our WESPAC cruise we stood port?starboard watches. But as I look back on those times, I realize just how much I really enjoyed serving aboard this ship.And being fresh out of high school my mind wasn't on taking pictures. So, now I don't have any pictures of the ship I served on. I now ask you if there are any real good{quality} pictures of the Renshaw that I might purchase? Also, as I collect caps are there any baseball caps out there with the ships name and logo on them that I might find? Or anything else that might be of interest. He was diagnosed with lung cancer about 3 years ago. He was under going treatment at Fox chase, and seemed to be doing well, until about 3 weeks ago. At that time they found it had spread to his only kidney, and to his brain. Anyway, my sister just wanted me to send word. As of now Bill Scareon and I are hoping to make this year's reunion in Baltimore. Hope all is well with you and your family. Brent a quartermaster, was a plank owner, and served aboard Renshaw from late 1942 to late 1944. For those two years he was the number one helmsman. Brent finished his naval career as a CPO. Brent was a special friend and a great shipmate. He is missed.
